Yang Zhengying, aged 61, is a provincial-level inheritor of the Gejia batik craft. Raised in the Gejia ethnic village of Kaili, Guizhou, she learned batik techniques from her mother and grandmother from childhood. Though she never attended formal schooling, she later acquired literacy through local government-run night classes for adults. For the past four decades, he has dedicated himself to creating ethnic crafts such as Gejia batik and embroidery. He actively trains impoverished women from neighbouring villages in Gejia batik and embroidery techniques, thereby facilitating employment opportunities for local women in need. He has been honoured three times with the title of ‘Guizhou Province's Top Ten Folk Batik Masters’; She was also honoured with the title of ‘Guizhou Senior Craft Artist’. In June 2017, she was appointed as a visiting professor by the Batik Department of Guizhou Vocational College of Light Industry.
